In case there was still any doubt, the nineties are most definitely back and along with it are the slip dress styles that were hugely popular during the decade.

As the name suggests, slip dresses look as if the wearer has just slipped the dress on. The design, of course, goes way further back than just the nineties. The style is inspired by the French chemise undergarment, which was widely used by women of bygone eras. The chemise was a lightweight dress with thin straps that skimmed the body, fitting a little loosely. In past centuries, the chemise was worn underneath a woman’s dress. These days, the modern slip dress is the very dress that women step out in. 

The nineties were a big moment for the slip dress. Virtually every major celebrity wore the famous style.
